これについて書き始める前にコースについて少し書いておこうと思う。
このコースは僕らが参加する山岳ガイド会社では
Ecrins Haute Route and Dôme de Neige des Ecrins
という名前がついている。
計画は以下の通り。
Day 1 Transfer to Ailefroide, 4,914 feet. Sélé hut, 8,238 feet.
Meeting Point at 7.00 am, at Le Fayet / Saint-Gervais train station.
Transfer to Ailefroide, 4,914 feet. The footpath goes up in Ceise Niere valley. Pic-nic on the way. The footpath then climbs the Coste de Sialouze, and later turns in a easy and short Via Ferrata, just below Sélé hut, 8,238 feet. Night by the hut.
Duration: 3 hours and a half. Difference of level : + 3,324 feet up, 0 feet down.
Day 2 Sélé pass, 10,771 feet. Pilatte hut, 8,455 feet.
A easy glacier till Sélé pass, with a quite steep descent till Pilatte glacier.
Duration: 4 hours. Difference of level : + 2,533 feet up, 2,316 feet down.
Day 3 Pilatte hut, Gioberney peak, 10,997 feet, Pilatte hut, Carrelet pasture, 6,719 feet, Temple-Ecrins hut, 7,907 feet
Ascent of Gioberney peak, with light backpacks as we will come back to the hut. Then footpath to Temple-Ecrins hut.
Duration: 7 to 8 hours. Difference of level : + 3,904 feet up, 4,452 feet down.
Day 4 Temple pass, 10,896 feet. Chalet-hôtel Cézanne, 6,148 feet.
Footpath and snow field till the Temple pass. Then, descent, not so easy, on the other side of the pass.
Duration: 6 hours. Difference of level : + 2,988 feet up, 4,747 feet down.
Day 5 Ecrins hut, 10,417 feet.
Footpath, and then easy glacier trek till the Ecrins hut
Duration: 5 hours. Difference of level : + 4,268 feet up, 0 feet down.
Day 6 Dôme de Neige des Ecrins, 13,172 feet.
A very nice ascent on the Glacier Blanc till Dôme de Neige des Ecrins, a fantastic point of wiew on the Fench Alps. Descent to Chalet-Hôtel Cézanne. Transfer to Le Fayet / St Gervais.
End of the programme at Le Fayet / Saint-Gervais train station around 6.00 pm.
かなり簡潔な説明で、これを見る限りではそんなドラマチックなコースとは思えないのだけれど…
